Eating Well While at the Office

Updated: Aug 8, 2019

Working in an office makes it extremely tempting to indulge in the wrong kind of foods. I don’t know about your work, but mine always has a cake for someones birthday, boxes of donuts from a client, left over lunch meeting sandwiches and treats, celebration drinks… and the list goes on and on. In these kinds of case, I completely avoid it at all costs. Most of the complimentary food provided is not healthy at all (unless you are lucky!)

Here are some ways to divert from the treat filled table:-

  • Make your own lunch daily that’s salad based with a palm size portion of protein and slices of avocado.

  • If you are buying lunch, stick to healthy choices all the times.

  • Bring your own healthy snacks such as nuts, seeds, chopped veggies, berries and even some boiled eggs.

  • Make your own hummus, avocado salsa and use veggies as your prime dipper.

  • Keep hydrated when in the office due to varying degrees of air conditioning.

  • It’s easy to get sleepy or very irritated from the temperatures, so it’s a good idea to keep hydrated.

Now, here are the kinds of foods to Avoid when you lead a sedentary lifestyle. Although I do recommend you implement some exercise, even if it is walking. It will increase your overall health and wellbeing.

  • Avoid sugars, soft drinks and alcohol.

  • Avoid biscuits, cakes, packaged foods and processed meals.

  • Avoid anything that is wrapped in a plastic pack and lists ingredients you cannot pronounce.

  • Avoid white breads, cereals, fruit drinks and canned items.
